The Australian Centre Awards

The Australian Centre administers a series of prizes for outstanding endeavour in the visual arts, creative writing and biographical studies. The awards are presented on an annual or biennial basis. They are:

The Australian Centre Literary Awards 2007 presentation

The winners of the 2007 Awards were announced at the Melbourne Writer's Festival on 30 August 2007.

Steven Carroll	Author and critic, Steven Carroll, announced the winners of the Australian Centre Literary Awards at the Melbourne Writers' Festival Thursday 30 August.
Brenda Walker	The Asher Literary Award Winner: Brenda Walker for The Wing of Night: A Novel of Love and War, Penguin Books.
Meg Mundell	The DJ (Dinny) O'Hearn Memorial Fellowship Winner: Meg Mundell
Andrew Lindsay	2008 Peter Blazey Fellowship In the light of the increased funds available this year, the judges agreed to make two awards to support the writing of two very different, but both equally impressive books. Winner: $10,000 Andrew Lindsay for his work-in-progress The God of Morphine Winner: $5,000 Dmetri Kakmi for his work-in-progress Motherland	Dmetri Kakmi
