A range of exciting programs are available for student groups from 3 days to one year duration. Please note that we only accept groups from educational institutes or organizations. Individual applicants are not accepted.

Australian Cultural Studies and ESL Program
Typically ranging from 3 to 6 weeks, an Australian cultural studies and ESL program is ideal for student wishing to gain a better understanding of Australian culture, and to sample academic studies at the University of Melbourne. It is hoped that the program reinforces and builds on students’ English studies.
ESL teachers are provided by the university Languages and Linguistics department, and cultural studies are arranged by the Australian Centre.
A range of accommodation options are available, however local homestays are recommend to promote cultural interaction which complement the Australian studies and ESL English.
Past programs have included the City sights tour (1/2 day), Bush trip to the Grampians (3 days), BBQ with University club, Healsville wildlife sanctuary, Melbourne Museum - Bunjilaka, and bush dancing party.

Intensive Humanities Program for High School Students
Intensive programs are ideal for groups with limited time, ranging from 3 days to two weeks ???, with a focus on developing critical academic skills. The program exposes students to a tertiary-level humanities experience and familiarizes them with the expectations of academic culture. Leading academics from the Australian Centre are available to present topics on; migration, ethnicity and marginality; national identity, community and place; histories of poverty and welfare; arts and creative production; indigenous and non-indigenous relations; life-narrative and belonging.
Accommodation can be arranged at a nearby student hostel. ESL students require a medium to high level of English proficiency to undertake this program.

Independent Research Course
This academic course is offered each semester and is intended to deepen student’s interaction with Australian society and cultivate reflection of their experiences abroad. Leading academics from the Australian Centre are available to present topics on a variety of cultural studies. Typically this course is structured on field trips to various locations in Melbourne, where lecturers provide experiential lessons.
This program is available to student groups currently enrolled at the University of Melbourne.

Independent Cultural Immersion Project
This course is annually and aims to enhance students understanding of Australian society and culture through direct participation in the wider community. Students are supervised by a university academic and present a project to be assessed at the end of the year (written, visual presentation). Projects commonly relate to community service, internship or a personal passion.
This program is available to student groups currently enrolled at the University of Melbourne.
