International Programs
International programs draw on the expertise and knowledge of Australian Centre academics, as well providing fully supported services for students such as accommodation, meals, transport, group activities and excursions, 24/7 emergency assistance, counseling and academic support. Australian Centre courses often supplement our International programs and are designed specifically for international student groups, enhancing their understanding of contemporary Australian life.
Our student support office is conveniently located at the University of Melbourne Parkville campus at the Australian Centre building, 149 Barry St, Carlton.
Overview
For over a decade, the Australian Centre has provided Australian Studies courses to high school and university students from universities and organizations in Asia, North America and Europe. These unique courses are taught by leading academics, and can be tailored to meet specific group requirements to suit a wide range of disciplines and interests, with potential to meet accreditation standards of home institutions. Academic programs draw on the expertise of Australian Centre staff in the areas of Australian history, politics, indigenous issues, multiculturalism, race and gender, art and culture. We may also collaborate with other university departments to complement our programs, such as ESL classes.
Cultural programs are designed specifically for international student groups and/or ESL level student groups, to enhance their understanding of complex modern Australia. The cultural programs include group activities, excursions, specialist cultural presentations and social events. The Australian Centre has developed overnight and multi day fieldtrips to explore local or remote parts of Australia.
The Australian Centre can also arrange additional services such as airport transfers, meals, accommodation, student group leader, facilitating UoM enrolment for study abroad students, 24-hour emergency contacts and counselors. Accommodation options include homestays, serviced apartments, guesthouses, or short-term stays at one of the University of Melbourne's residential colleges.
We strive to provide a welcoming environment that allows visiting students to experience the University of Melbourne, to feel at home in a new city and to benefit most from their time in Australia. Contact us with any queries. We welcome new group programs, which can be designed and negotiated upon request.
